You do know that there are other things you can eat on Friday during Lent, right? Eggs... spaghetti with marinara (and no meat)... grilled cheese and tomato soup... beans and rice...
I'm not even a Catholic anymore, and I still don't eat meat on Fridays during Lent. Call it habit mixed with stubborness mixed with I don't know what.

Or, you could just do what I do: ignore Rome's stupid edicts and traditions that are just based upon forcing the laiety to conform to Rome's wishes.
Giving up meat on Fridays is not inherently a Bad Thing™. It's a Bad Thing™ when someone claims that it is Biblically based. It's not.
Besides, if giving up meat on Fridays is such a Good Thing™, why not do it the rest of the year? Why only do it for five or six weeks?
Lent is a stupid pagan holiday, that was rightly expunged from Christian traditions by the Reformers.
I am in no mood for a theological debate.
And I was in no mood for the tuna casserole I made Friday night!
All I can reall say is... THANK GOD FOR TARTAR SAUCE!
